original-author: Jon Buck

The rapid increase in cryptocurrency popularity, along with the burgeoning market for ICOs and other Blockchain technology has lead to some surprising new tech being released onto the market. The most recent of such releases is a wristband that allows users to pay for drinks, food at bars and other restaurants and festivals using their Dash holdings.
The tech, called Festy, is the brainchild of Irish tech firm Bitcart and will be the first of its kind on the market. It utilizes a QR code with a Blockchain infrastructure that takes advantage of Dashs InstantSend technology, making payments nearly immediate, but with much lower fees than legacy credit cards. CEO Graham de Barra said, “Our partnership with Dash makes the perfect payment solution for everyday transactions. Unlike existing traditional bank payments that take a two to five percent fee, there is no cost on receiving Dash for merchants.”
The concept is new in the cryptocurrency world, as companies seek to find ways to capitalize on the sudden surge of public interest in decentralized currencies and Blockchain technology. The clear advantages of Blockchain in terms of security and payment verification have prompted the rise in interest as well.

title: "Dash passes Apples review process and becomes available on iOS apps"
original-author:
original-link: https://www.cryptoninjas.net/2017/07/19/dash-passes-apples-review-process-becomes-available-ios-apps/amp/
---
Dash announced today official acceptance by Apple as an approved cryptocurrency on the App Store. Following a comprehensive appeal, the worlds largest company has now formally reversed an August 2016 decision to deny entry to the App Store for applications integrating Dash, including the official Dash wallet. The approval confirms that Dash can be integrated and utilized in any relevant application in the iOS App Store, including multi-blockchain wallets and Dashs own official wallet, available today.
CEO of Dash Core Ryan Taylor said:
“As Dash continues to expand our user base and ecosystem of services, it is critical for our users to have access to their Dash funds on a variety of platforms, especially mobile devices. Dashs instant payments make Dash ideal for point-of-sale situations, which means mobile phone support for all of our users is a must. The fact that Apple now recognizes the increased demand and importance of Dash speaks to the progress weve made in reaching larger and larger audiences.”
Over the past year, developers and blockchain companies have submitted several Dash-integrated wallets to the App Store, of which the vast majority were rejected.
Taylor continued:
“Apple is in a difficult position. Ultimately, they are attempting to look out for user safety by preventing less reputable projects from accessing the Apple Store ecosystem. In the past, a number of unaudited and unofficial Dash wallets have slipped through the review process, leaving users questioning the safety of those options. Now that Dash is an Apple-approved digital currency, we are able to offer our users an officially endorsed wallet option.”
“Our users can confidently use Dash wallets that are maintained, officially supported, and known to be safe. Apple has shown a willingness to allow worthy digital currencies into their platform, but that requires an incredible amount of due diligence on their part. Were pleased that they determined Dash was worth the substantial effort to evaluate, and were obviously pleased with the outcome.”
The final step of the appeal process was a six-page written report submitted to the App Store at the beginning of June, informing Apple of Dashs surge in popularity, growth in value and demand, the ability to scale, and its improvement in adoption as a consumer e-commerce currency of choice.
Taylor finished his statement by stating:
“We asked Apple to reconsider Dashs status because we have a compelling story of continued growth and innovation. We believe that Dash is already a far superior digital currency compared with other options, and with our landmark Evolution release rolling out in stages over the next year, our user experience will be even more differentiated going forward. Additionally, we want to meet our users demands, and support on Apple products ranks at the top of the list of our user wishes. In short, our users priorities are our priorities. We couldnt be more pleased that Apple has decided Dash is worthy of being one of the few approved digital currencies on their platform. There is a lot of overlap in our user bases, as both entities focus on optimizing the end-user experience and making our respective products a pleasure to use.”
“Weve had a version ready for many months pending the approval and it is simply called Dash Wallet. Well be making larger investments into our iOS wallet now that we are approved, but even the initial version will include support for sending InstantSend payments. Well be adding additional features and enhancements over the coming months as well.”

original-author: William Suberg
original-link: https://cointelegraph.com/news/privacy-focused-altcoin-dash-debuts-on-app-store-as-apple-u-turns-on-ban
---
Apple has reversed its decision to ban apps supporting privacy-focused altcoin Dash from its App Store.
Having determined Dash-based products, including the official Dash wallet, were inappropriate in August 2016, the tech giant has U-turned on its appraisal.
Dash can now debut on one of the worlds biggest marketplaces, where it joins other virtual currencies including Ripple, Ethereum and Litecoin as well as Bitcoin.
Commenting on the news, Dash Core CEO Ryan Taylor sounded forgiving.
“Apple is in a difficult position,” he said in a press release issued Wednesday.
“Ultimately, they are attempting to look out for user safety by preventing less reputable projects from accessing the Apple Store ecosystem. Apple has shown a willingness to allow worthy digital currencies into their platform, but that requires an incredible amount of due diligence on their part.”
Dash has managed to cement increasingly prominent partnerships in recent months, continuing a style which emerged immediately after the assets price began regularly topping $200 earlier this year.
The turnaround at Apple emerged from a subsequent request, Taylor said, based on the “growth and innovation” of Dash since August.
“We asked Apple to reconsider Dashs status because we have a compelling story of continued growth and innovation,” he continued.
“[...] Additionally, we want to meet our users demands, and support on Apple products ranks at the top of the list of our user wishes.”

title: "Dash Price Soars After Getting Accepted on App Store"
original-author: Joshua Althauser
original-link: https://cointelegraph.com/news/dash-price-soars-after-getting-accepted-on-app-store
---
Dash is currently the seventh biggest digital currency in the world in terms of the total market cap, which is valued at about $1.4 bln and has been increasing after getting accepted on the App Store.
Apple has officially authorized the digital currency Dash on its App Store as of mid-July 2017, after previously rejecting the currency.
According to Dash CEO Ryan Taylor, the decision by Apple to accept the cryptocurrency is a recognition of the growing demand and importance of the currency. He expressed that the decision for Apple must have been a difficult one as they are always on the lookout for user safety and ensure that only reputable projects can access the ecosystem.
“Our users can confidently use Dash Wallets that are maintained, officially supported and known to be safe. Apple has shown a willingness to allow worthy digital currencies into their platform, but that requires an incredible amount of due diligence on their part. Were pleased that they determined Dash was worth the substantial effort to evaluate, and were obviously pleased with the outcome.”
Appeal process
Taylor has also shared the appeal process which was a painstakingly long one. Believing in the companys business model, the Dash team decided to lodge an appeal which Apple eventually reconsidered. In 2016, several developers and Blockchain firms have filed applications for Dash-integrated wallets to the App Store. The majority of the applications were rejected by Apple.
Cryptocurrencies on App Store
To date, Apple has authorized around 10 cryptocurrencies that can be used on its App Store. Aside from Dash, these digital currencies include Ethereum, Bitcoin, Steem, Litecoin, Lisk and Ripple.
Now that the Dash iOS Wallet is available on the App Store, the Dash team is planning to inject more investments into their iOS app to add additional features and improvements shortly.

Despite the huge profit we earn, we are closing our activity. Let me explain why.
I'm bitcoin enthusiast since 2011. When we started this service I was convinced that any Bitcoin user has a natural right to privacy. I was totally wrong. Now I grasped that Bitcoin is transparent non-anonymous system by design. Blockchain is a great open book. I believe that Bitcoin will have a great future without dark market transactions. You may use Dash or Zerocoin if you want to buy some weed. Not Bitcoin.
I hope our decision will help to make Bitcoin ecosystem more clean and transparent. I hope our competitors will hear our message and will close their services too. Very soon this kind of activity will be considered as illegal in most of countries.
Cheers,

title: "Worlds Largest Bitcoin Tumbling Service Announces Sudden Shutdown"
original-author: Alexander Geralis
original-link: https://cointelegraph.com/news/worlds-largest-bitcoin-tumbling-service-announces-sudden-shutdown
---
The largest mixing service has decided to shut down operations, citing the future of Bitcoin as a catalyst. While no links have been made official, users question possible pressure and dark market shops as a possible cause.
One of the largest mixing services announced that it will stop operating just before delivering on that promise.
Mixing Bitcoins
Mixing Bitcoins is mainly touted as service to attempt greater privacy by anonymizing the funds to some extent. A user who forwards their funds to the mixer gets mixed Bitcoins from the pool that the mixing service owns and his own funds then enter the pools reserve, which then may subsequently be delivered to another user of the mixing service.
Bitmixer.io made an announcement on the popular Bitcointalk forums stating:
“When we started this service I was convinced that any Bitcoin user has a natural right to privacy. I was totally wrong. Now I grasped that Bitcoin is transparent non-anonymous system by design. Blockchain is a great open book. I believe that Bitcoin will have a great future without dark market transactions.”
Why should I mix my coins?
Privacy, and not aid to criminal activity, was the only service being offered by the mixing service
The announcement suggests using other currencies to buy contraband on the dark markets - not Bitcoin. Dash and Zerocoin [now named Zcash] were pointed out, which as many users know have a greater depth of privacy than Bitcoin. Despite mainstream media blaming Bitcoin for the Silk Road during the 2013 bust, better-informed holders understand that Bitcoin is actually pseudonymous and rather far from anonymous. The ledger or Blockchain can be publicly viewed by anyone with an Internet connection.
The announcement comes just days after AlphaBay was taken down in a well-coordinated sting operation with the US, Canada and Thailand participating. In the US Justice Departments indictment related to the event, there is a clear statement of AlphaBay both using mixing/tumbling services and also advertising them on the site. This brings to light questions by users asking if there is pressure or even risk related to the event. Mixers have been pointed out as a slight risk, most recently, the EU report on money laundering and terrorist financing - while concluding cryptocurrencies as a whole are not an effective method to launder money, and even less so to finance terrorism. Cash is still the go to option.
BitMixer is sending a message to other services still engaged in mixing saying: “I hope our decision will help to make Bitcoin ecosystem more clean and transparent. I hope our competitors will hear our message and will close their services too. Very soon this kind of activity will be considered as illegal in most countries.”
While the business could easily be sold for “$5 to 6 mln”, the decision to close seems like both an ethical step and forward looking statement for the future of Bitcoin.
While Bitcoin has clearly shed its sin phase and the whole digital currency market as a whole is rapidly maturing and even alluring to institutional investors - there are clearly some remnants of days gone by. Traders and holders of digital assets should always be on the right side of the law as regulation becomes the next challenge and necessary step. Privacy is an issue with any sensitive data or information, be it linked to assets, identity or knowledge.

title: "$110 Million: BTC-e Fined as US Vows Crackdown on Bitcoin Exchanges"
original-author: Stan Higgins
original-link: https://www.coindesk.com/110-million-btc-e-fined-us-vows-crackdown-unregulated-exchanges/
---
The US government has unsealed an indictment against BTC-e and one of its alleged operators, levying a $110 million fine for violations allegedly committed by the long-running bitcoin exchange.
In the 21-count indictment released earlier this evening, the Department of Justice alleged that BTC-e and Alexander Vinnik, the Russian national who was arrested earlier today in Greece and later linked to the long-running exchange, committed a laundry list of crimes throughout the exchange's six-year history.
Federal prosecutors allege that BTC-e functioned as a clearing house for illicit funds sourced from "computer intrusions and hacking incidents, ransomware scams, identity theft schemes, corrupt public officials, and narcotics distribution rings."
Vinnik was charged with 17 counts of money laundering and two counts of engaging in unlawful monetary transactions. Both BTC-e (by way of an alleged holding company named Canton Business Corporation) and Vinnik were also charged with one count of operating an unlawful money services business and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering.
Prosecutors further alleged that Vinnik "received funds from the infamous computer intrusion or 'hack' of Mt. Gox" echoing claims released earlier today by the independent research group WizSec, which has investigated the theft of funds from the now-defunct Japan-based bitcoin exchange.
According to the Department of Justice, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) assessed a $110 million civil penalty against BTC-e, as well as a $12 million penalty against Vinnik.
If convicted, Vinnik faces as many as 55 years in prison.
Stern rebuke
But, in announcing the unsealed indictment, government officials issued stark warnings to digital currency exchanges.
Acting FinCEN director Jamal El-Hindi said in a statement:
"We will hold accountable foreign-located money transmitters, including virtual currency exchangers, that do business in the United States when they willfully violate U.S. AML laws."
Notably absent from the statements were indications as to whether the US government would move to permanently shutter the exchange, which just hours ago said that it would return to service.
More details on the story, its impact, its connection to the Mt Gox case and its open questions can be found in our most recent feature.

title: "This proposal will fund the first ever Dash-dedicated conference in London on September 24th"
original-author: Ryan Taylor
original-link: https://www.dash.org/forum/threads/proposal-dash-conference-2017-london.16013/
---
This proposal is cross-posted at <https://www.dashcentral.org/p/conf-dash-201708>
This proposal will fund the first ever Dash-dedicated conference in London on September 24th.
At a time when "ICO" is the buzzword of the day, Dash has experienced incredible growth and broken out of a ever-growing pack. The Dash community stands in contrast to the current market environment as a grassroots movement aiming to reinvent money to be empowering for people all across the globe. It is time to bring our community together to share ideas, inspire each other, educate each other, create new connections, and celebrate the vision we are pursuing. We propose to hold the first Dash Conference on September 24th at The Oval Space, London.
Who will organize this event?
Keynote has been organizing blockchain events since 2012 - including the North American Bitcoin Conference in Miami, and the World Blockchain Forum. They have organized events in 7 countries for over 8,500 attendees, all focused on blockchain. The Keynote team has a network of connections with potential sponsors and speakers to help make Dash's event a success. Keynote will provide five full-time staff members through the date of the event.
We are also proposing working with Keynote because they can help draw newcomers to Dash from the blockchain interested crowd attending another Keynote event on September 25th-26th at the same venue. I will explain more as well as the benefits of this below.
What will the event be?
The Dash Conference will be a one-day event. The venue rental is at The Oval Space, London. There will be a main hall for speeches, panel discussions, and demos for broad audience topics, and smaller breakout rooms for specialized content (e.g., technical discussions, working sessions, product demonstrations). We will offer the opportunity for business partners or other interested parties to host booths in an exhibitor area outside the main hall. The event will also be fully catered including breakfast, coffee breaks, and lunch.
We will also capture and own the content from our event. Audio visual services will be on site providing projectors, microphones, media walls, videographer, photographer, and LCD screens.
Keynote will also provide full event branding, including a web ad campaign, a mailchimp campaign, and printing of banners, lanyards, cards, and brochures.
Finally, there will be a separate conference networking event on the evening of the 24th, and will include attendees from both the Dash Conference and World Blockchain Forum. By straddling the two events, we hope to encourage further opportunities for co-mingling Dash attendees with others in the blockchain industry. We encourage the Dash community to use this opportunity to introduce Dash to a new audience... even those that missed the Dash event.
In addition to the Dash conference itself, Dash will be named the Premiere sponsor of the World Blockchain Forum, and will be granted two speaking slots at this two-day event on Sept. 25th-26th, as well as a set of complementary tickets to attend that event (no less than 4 tickets).
To encourage potential attendees to attend both events, Keynote and Dash plan to collaborate to offer discounts for purchasing tickets to both in a package. This will help infuse more Dash attendees in the World Blockchain Forum, and will encourage attendees currently outside the Dash community to attend our event.
What services does this proposal fund?
Keynote services include:
- Staff costs for the development and execution of the conference, including staff on the day of the event for organization, manning of the reception desk, etc.
- Venue rental for the main hall, exhibitor hall, and breakout rooms.
- Marketing, design, and printing costs for all conference-related materials
- Catering
- Audio / visual equipment and staff
- World Blockchain Forum sponsorship
- Conference networking event, including venue rental and organization
Total: 227,000 GBP (~$295,000 USD)
Other costs:
- Dash Core Team transportation and accommodation expenses for approximately 12 team members
~$30,000 USD
- Dash Conference swag / giveaways for attendees
~$5,000 USD
Total: $35,000 USD
However, note that much of these funds will be recuperated through ticket and sponsorship sales. The exact amount will depend on discounts offered for dual-purchased tickets and strategically gifted booths or tickets to select business partners we want to encourage attending. Any conference revenue will be applied toward the next Dash Conference, or will be used for other conference-related expenses.
Where can I find more information? What is the schedule / agenda?
More information on the World Blockchain Forum can be found here: https://london.keynote.ae/
As we only recently concluded a final agreement with Keynote, the exact agenda, speakers, topics, etc are not yet determined for the Dash Conference event. We will be working with Keynote starting next week to begin the planning process and will release information and details as we progress and confirm speakers. We will be reaching out to potential speakers over the coming weeks. We will also accept proposed topics / speeches / demos from Dash partners, well-known community members, etc as we plan the event. We will provide a central point of contact within the team for fielding these requests / suggestions.
If you have any other questions, please direct them to @Ryan Taylor in this Dash Forum post to ensure I see your request.
Requested funding is as follows for the August 4th budget cycle:
1,696.48 Dash for sponsorship and expenses for Dash Conference and Premiere sponsorship of World Blockchain Forum ($330,000 USD @ $194.52 per Dash)
5.00 Dash proposal reimbursement
Total: 1,701.48 Dash
Note: Should any funding remain, we will apply it toward future conference and travel expenses.
